2021-01-25 - 1920's music
-------------------------------------------------------------------
As the actual world is currently a bit depressing, i switched off
the normal radio to listen to some good old 1920's music i still
had laying around. And it immediately cheered me up. In some very
odd way it seems quite appropriate music for hanging out in CLI.
Don't know why, but i'm pretty sure it's just a weird association
i have somewhere in my brain for some reason.
I think a benefit of switching off the radio is that you don't hear
the news. Over here, every radio station features a news bulletin
every 30 minutes(!). Since i only tune in to radio to listen to
music, this is pretty annoying and distracting. I wouldn't mind
hearing news once in every x amount of days, or maybe not even at
all. If there's very important news, you'd hear it from people
around you anyway. Or maybe read the occasional headline from the
newspapers laying in the shops.
For me personally it is good to stay aware of - and minimize - the
amount of information i'm subjected to every day. Most information
especially news is irrelevant and doesn't need my attention or
opinion. There's riots here, some scandal there, and everything is
on fire and we're all doomed. Great, i'd rather just tune out and
enjoy reading a book, computering a little and drinking tea. It
very much alters my mood to be more positive. And it's better for
me to be happy and shielded off a bit from the world, than to
follow everything and become a gloomy individual.
As the bald guy in the Matrix said; Ignorance is bliss :) Ooh,
'Spread A Little Happiness' from the New Mayfair Dance Orchestra is
playing. I quite like this song. I think i will perform a small
festive, isolated, solitary dance before i go to bed.
