Wow! How comes Veronica-2 does returns any result about Haruki Murakami? This
must be changed. So, I'll write a little bit about "Hard-boiled Wonderland and
the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami. It is a great book! I recommend it to you!
The chapters of the book are divided into two groups:
* chapters of odd numbers.
* chapters of even numbers.
Both stories are about the human mind or lack thereof.
The chapters with the odd numbers are about a calcutec who uses his brain for
encrypting data. He has to beware of cruel semiotecs whose job is to steal the
This means that he lives to work. I'm not going to tell you about the last task he has in the fictional world in which he lives
The chapters with the even numbers are about the end of the world. The
protagonists enters a town and needs to be separated from his shadows because
nobody in that town can have a shadow. So, the shadow is removed in a surgical
operation. He becomes a dream reader there after a little operation on his eyes.
People in that town are not bothered by the fact that they don't have a mind
following the deaths of their shadows. Such things bother newbies whose shadows
are still alive and who still have minds.
Now, there dream reader has 3 options:
* Stay in the town, and get used to it.
* Find the way to escape.
* Improve the situation.
I'm not going to tell you which one the protagonist chooses, but you can guess
that one of the options is out of the question.
The end is left open, and may be the beginning of a new story.
And the reader can see that both worlds communicate in some way with each other.
