I Want to Go on a Dangerous Trip
The first time I expressed my will to go on a dangerous trip was when I had read
an editor's column calling parents to not let thier young "kids" go on treks in
dangerous third-world contries. As a job-seeker and a hi-tech _ronin_, I found
those trips attractive because if something happens to a trekker, nobody will
ask them any more questions about the reason why they do not get a fucking job.
Those questions drive me bananas and are not real help. Tell people how hard it
is to get jobs and they will call what you say "self pity" and say things like
"don't give up".
I don't like how people criticize the trekkers each time one dies in an accident
or some other danger.
They say that people should not risk their lives and should think about their
families; BORING! I have two or more things to say:
- I remember how back in the eighties I read the book _Jungle_ by Yossi
Ghinsberg. That book was great!
There was something else for him to do as an Israeli, which is to go to
Lebanon as a soldier.
- Some ask what the young dudes are looking for in those places, when our
country has a lot of interesting places to go. Well, we have borders such as
the one with Gaza or with Syria. I do not have to elaborate on it.
- I'm pretty tired of spending time with babies and little kids. I want a real
vacation instead but this time not just in the US or Europe.
