Jason Nemrow
Get a totally different and somewhat unrestrained perspective
from an autistic home economist, an adogmatic asocial yet ascetically devoted Mormon, a black-listed developmental specialist,
and an overly-philosophical essayist, all living in one mind and obsessed with finding truth and meaning in a sometimes shallow
, hostile and increasingly senseless world.

I live a somewhat sheltered life with my wonderfully determined wife and our amazingly odd children in an happily obscure locat
ion for the sociological safety of others. I am also the sole steward of both this website and the hardware it runs upon.

Quasi-Indefatigable Xenolith
I am home economist by training, a technologist by current employment, and a quasi-indefatigable xenolith: **a somewhat relentl
essly different person in a sea of human homogeny**.

As a somewhat ascetic member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I will gladly tell a
nyone willing to listen exactly why I am a Mormon.

The Artifacts
Jason's Writing
I spend much of my free time //"feedin' m'noggin"// and the
n composing interesting essays based a bit on current events, covering wide-ranging and esoteric
subjects in line with whatever I am thinking at the moment. I archive these here as well and occasionally ass
emble related ones into e-books found at my Amazon Store.

I have also written inspiring short stories in the past.

In the picture to the right, you see the glyph of **The Mariner's Log**, also known as //God's Plan of Happiness in Ten Simple
Symbols//. I am the originator (well, as far as I am aware, God revealed it to me) of this icon and you can [[03IXI8E0OC:start|
learn more about it]] and the central role it plays in the Navigiary Allegory.

In the spring of 2012, I finally completed and published my first anti-novel: Escape. This is the f
irst part of the Navigiary Allegory, which may require the rest of my life to get done!  Also I have composed a few short ficti
onal stories that are also published. You can purchase all of these things in e-book form at [defatx-20|my Amazon Store]. You can also read :stories:backstory as you please.

Jason's Computing World
I have a long history with computers which began as a obsessive hobby in my "'tweens" and continues to this
day.  It has led to much technology-based employment over the years.

You can read my semi-perpetual computer purchasing recommendation. Many people say that it is fine advic
e and is often used all around the world.

Jason's Family History
Most years, a newsletter that talks about my immediate family is sent to family and friends. It is presently called [[family:gu
ide|The Nemrow Family Guide to Prairie Survival]].

In 2007, I set up a website to share the massive geneological work that had been done by members of my extended family. You can
look at the records and photos we had at that time. Since that time, the best information on ou
r family can be found at the excellent FamilySearch website run (of course) by [rmon.org|The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints].

Jason's Heroes
Right behind the honor of family is the group of people and characters I admire.

I have also collected several wise writings by lots of people, some mentioned above.

Jason's Hiking Adventures
Like every other hiker, I have a personal site for many of my hiking and camping adventures. I also mirror [[
http://pennystove.qix.me/|the wonderful Pennystove website]].

The Obsessions
I also run a gopher server/BBS for my own personal nostalgia. In some ways, it serves as a repository for m
any things I find valuable, including several years of audio recordings that I make during walks and travels.

When it comes to simple computers, nothing beats the Sinclair ZX81, which was known in the United States of America as the Time
x Sinclair 1000. I have a small collection of programs and information to allow anyone to build and/or
operate their own 1980's vintage computer! Also, I mirror an html-version of the ZX81 Manual so that n
o important information will be lost!

I am a sad excuse for a "ham" radio operator, but I do have my license and the KE5YGT callsign. You can read about [[ke5ygt:sta
rt|my pathetic amatuer radio story]].

Jason's Contractual Obligations
Long ago, in the early "naughts", I did some contract work for a local public health council. As part of that work, I created a
website that contained abstracts of then-current research on subjects of interest to council membe
rs. I keep it on my server as a (hopeful) service to the ages.

In search of understanding in relation to me, it may be helpful to read
a few things about autistics.

I go camping and hiking with my family when conditions permit and I have taken some pictures of our trips.

Over the years, I have kept a list of people and characters I admire.

I am an amateur radio operator and my callsign is
KE5YGT.

People ask me regularly what I give as a
recommendation for computer purchases.

The Traits
Jason the Latter-Day Saint
This is my one and only organizational affiliation.  I am a
member of [[http://www.mormon.org|The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints]] and I try (with varying degrees of success) to live my life after the example of Jesus Christ.

Jason the Autodidact
Though I did attend public schooling, ultimately earning a bachelor's degree as a home economist, anyone can tell you that I am
a very independent learner and have been mostly self-taught in the various subjects like electronics, computers, and impractic
al writing.

"autodidact" is another way of saying "self-taught".

Jason the Home Economist
I am a degreed Home Economist, though I actually make my living in technology.  Many people ask me why I spent four years and s
ome thousands of taxpayer's money doing this and I will happily explain that the principles of Home Economics most closely mirr
or my own personal principles. Besides, young college students on the government dole are in
a perfect position to pursue personal principles rather than practical income generation!

I continue to pursue the arts of home and hearth through interests in human development, family study, and anthropology.

Jason the Computer Hobbyist
I am a computer hobbyist that gets paid to pursue my hobby!

I tear apart and rebuild old junk computers for what passes as fun for me.  In fact, the server that brings you this web page i
s one such computer.  Sometimes, I actually stop disassembling and reassembling long enough to
keep the server running and actually try to do something useful with these computers, but not very often.  I have a
personal computer collection (every nerdish type does) that I often add to and that welcomes donations.

As a computer hobbyist, I had a long-term longing to create a satisfying Computerized Bulletin Board System (BBS), which I fina
lly realized in December 2007, many years after BBSs had been overtaken by the Internet.

In trying to be a good neighbor and share my (hopeful) talents, [[computer:help|I occasionally help people with their computer
questions and issues for no charge]].

Jason the Writer
I have written a number of works that are available as Kindle books
on [om]. I also continue working on my great philosophical anti-novels in the Navigiary allegory.

Jason the (Very Light) Programmer
I had long ago given up on programming computers, having lost any particular need to do it since teaching school.  In 2005, an
old employer let me know that she was still using a program that I wrote in 1988 -- a little ditty that helped a child care cen
ter figure work time.  I know of few programs that have the ability to remain useful and used for twenty years, so I have decid
ed that I really am a computer programmer in the truest sense.

Jason the Teacher
I wouldn't include this, but I am a certified vo-tech teacher. I got my certificate while working at a prison so I could teach
there, but I was only there long enough to get the  provisional cert.  I was tired of driving 200 miles a day to a job I had in
a distant city, so I got a job as a school teacher, which lasted one year and proved a total fiasco, except for the fact that
I now have a professional license.  It would probably take a lot of torture to get me to teach at a public K-12 school again.

Jason the Cheap-skate
When I discovered that my lack of an information technology degree was curtailing my income, I took the shortest and cheapest r
oute to solving this:  I got a master's degree!  The quickest and cheapest way to do this was through [tern Governors University].  It took me just short of eighteen months and cost about US$9000.  Of course, there was all that t
ime I spent on it, but let's not dwell.

Jason the Rabid Isolationist
For a long time, I wondered why I had such peculiar interests, but now I understand that I am a rabid isolationist.  My great d
esire is to essentially be left alone, which is called "asocial" (as opposed to being anti-social), though I am not permitted t
o do this often.  For those of you that are also rabid  isolationists, you may find some information on this web site to help y
ou cope.

Jason the Maniacal Sharer
For a guy who wants to be left alone, I also have a sometimes confusing need to share what I know.  This website and associated
properties are a manifestation of this. It is important to understand that there is no conflict between being asocial and bein
g willing to share things - these are two very separate things.  Now, there may be questions as to the usefulness of such shari
ng, but I am not here to quibble as I am the maniacal one here!
