Presentation at work went well, I think it got my points across well, and
people seemd to agree, so I've contributed positively to the project. Yay :)

Thoughts about teeth
Gopher is cool, I don't know why it appeals to me, but I think it is the
simplicity. Documents, and directories. There you go. I consider restructuring
my website for gopher, maybe make my website more of a http-gopher bridge but
serving up HTML instead of plaintext, because I do like links and pictures for
describing projects. I think I could have a shared header/footer for both HTTP
and Gopher, maybe have a server that serves both HTTP and Goper and uses the
same index for it. That could be extended to support dial-in BBS perspective as
well. I'm also thinking about writing a crawler, it is something I've wanted to
do for a long time, but the way the web works today, I don't think it would be
worth any effort to write a web crawler. Gopher is different though, it has a
solid enough structure that it can be reliably crawled. I don't know if it
would be considered poor taste to do this, I'm only planning on crawling the
directories. It might make for some cool visualizations too!

Nostalgia
I'm usually a nostalgic guy, but even more so recently. I don't know why that
is. Maybe it has something to do with being a geek kid during the 90s, that was
such a cool time, and the idea that the world was moving very fast towards
something very cool was omnipresent. The state of the web makes it so that is
is not very interesting to me. It's no longer the wild west I guess. I long for
those times when new computer hardware was really interesting and every time a
new thing came out it completely changed the game for the better.
